$23.00 bearing and a little labor is much better then replacing the $300 A/C. When installing the pulley back on you will need to hit it pretty good to make sure it is on all the way to ba able to re-install the snap ring. I sprayed a little silicon in the bearing holder when inserting the new bearing and used a large washer which was about the same diameter of the bearing the hit it back in and make sure it is seated all the way. RYC Automotive A/C Compressor FG184 (Fits Jeep Liberty 3.7L 2006-2008 Dodge Nitro 3. The bearing is 23 dollars at AutoZone and goes back in the way it came out. I used a large socket on the front side of the bearing and hit it with a hammer a few times and it came right out the back side. You will see that the metal around the bearing on the backside of the pulley has been notched to hold the bearing in.don't worry about it as when you hit the bearing out it will flatten those pieces of metal back out. The bearing comes out from the rear and even though it doesn't look like it. I laid 2 pieces of 4x4 down and put the pulley face up straddling the 2 4x4's. With the pulley off you will see a bearing in the middle which will have to be knocked out. Be careful not to damage the clutch coil as you do not need to remove it which is held on by another snap ring. Remove the snap ring that holds the pulley on and you will have to use a pry bar to work the pulley off put be gentle or you can use a puller. It slides on some little teeth so be careful not to bend it or damage the teeth. Remove the single bolt from the front of the A/C clutch and slide off the clutch plate. To replace the Clutch bearing you will need to remove the fan shroud to access the front of the A/C clutch. The pulley free wheels when A/C is disengaged so if you are only hearing it when the A/C is turned on then it is not Clutch Bearing. How to identify it is the clutch bearing? You will hear a loud roar from the pulley when vehicle is running with A/C off or on. I just completed the bearing replacement on the clutch and it went off without a hitch. I did not want to replace the whole compressor as I knew it was just the bearing. I realize this is a old post but I wanted to reply to this thread as I was looking for the same answers and could not find anything.
